Flood Plan UK

Flood Plan UK is your comprehensive source of information and practical advice on flooding and community flood planning.

No one can stop floods happening, but together, we can help you make your families, your homes and your communities more resilient to them.

If you’re a homeowner or a community leader who knows what it’s like to be affected by floods, or are worried about the possibility of it happening in the future, this is the place for you – to help yourself and your neighbours.

Why Aviva?

As the UK’s largest insurer, Aviva has invaluable knowledge and experience of flooding: how floods happen, what they can do, how much they cost, and most importantly, what people can do to make their homes and communities more resilient to them.

We’ve created Flood Plan UK to share that knowledge and expertise, and that of others, with you. We also commissioned independent community engagement experts, The Environment Council, to develop the first ever guide that will empower individuals to work together to add a community dimension to flood planning.

It's a charity run by people who have experienced the trauma, loss and frustration that go with flooding, or have first hand experience of supporting the victims of flooding both during and after the event.

The Environment Agency:

The Environment Agency is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales. Their remit is to ensure that air, land and water are looked after by everyone in today's society, so that tomorrow's generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world. The Environment Agency  warns people about flooding and builds flood defences. Around 5 million people live in flood risk areas in England and Wales.
