The Environment Agency is a good resource to learn more about the areas that are prone to flooding, flood alerts, and more on individual preparation, resilience and coping with a flood. The agency is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales .
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency is also a similar source if you are north of the border.

- The Environment Agency has developed guidance on preparing your business for a flood incident.
- Aviva has developed guidance for businesses on managing your flood risk.
Aviva recognises that often its Policyholders want advice and guidance on how best to protect their property from the risk of flooding, particularly in light of the widescale flooding seen during the summer of 2007. Whilst for many Policyholders, Aviva's own risk advisers can provided adequate advice and guidance. It may be appropriate in some instances to arrange for an independent specialist survey. With this in mind, Aviva have negotiated a discount on the standard survey costs for its Policyholders with two companies which specialise flood risk surveys.
